About Us
The Bakken Area Skills Center (BASC) is the school district’s newest building. The district began use of the facility in January 2024. The BASC building contains 40,000 square feet of new construction and infrastructure on 20 acres.
The BASC will be occupied by the Regional Center for Career and Technology Education. The Regional Center currently includes 10 member schools in Northwest ND. The Regional Center will provide virtual as well as in-person training. Students and school districts will have access to curriculum, qualified instructors, mobile trailers, and satellite locations to perform hands-on competencies.
The Regional Center has submitted to NDCTE for new or transfer programs including the following: Career Counseling, Health Careers, Agriculture, IT-Cybersecurity, Building Trades, Transportation, Automation, Welding/Automotive
The Regional Center will facilitate Golden Path Solutions and will coordinate with employers to promote job shadowing, apprenticeships, and career work experiences.
The Regional Center has partnerships with Williston State College, Bismarck State College, and TrainND to provide curriculum and certification/dual credit opportunities.
In the BASC, there are four shop areas in the BASC to facilitate Building Trades, Welding, Auto/Diesel Mechanics, and Automation (IT). Each shop contains its own classroom allowing flexibility to accommodate virtually any function. There are four exterior pad areas for equipment or hands-on training opportunities. The facility has an area where the Corp of Discovery/mobile trailers are stored and maintained.
The building has two complete Health Careers classrooms to facilitate LPN and ADN educational programming. These classrooms are equipped with the furnishings, tools, and practice models necessary to support education in the health sciences.
The BASC has two other classrooms, two larger conference rooms for meetings, and a concourse area to accommodate trainings, job fairs, or other events. The facility has offices and a health screening room available for outside partners and stakeholders.
The building has an area to be used for certification testing and for general employment coordination and preparation.
