I hope this message finds you well. At Watford City Middle School, the safety and well-being of our students are always our top priority. To ensure that both students and staff are prepared in the event of an emergency, we will be conducting Monthly Safety Tuesday Drills beginning this month. These drills will take place on the first Tuesday of every month and will cover a range of scenarios, including fire drills, lockdown procedures, and other emergency responses. Our goal is to ensure that students are familiar with safety protocols and prepared to respond calmly in any situation.
In addition, I would like to remind you of our school policies regarding certain prohibited items on school grounds. This includes airsoft guns, BB guns, vapes, and other similar items. Today, a student accidentally brought an airsoft gun to school. The student self-reported the possession of the airsoft gun and no danger was posed to any students. No safety protocols were required and the school day continued as usual.
This situation today was a great reminder that these items not only pose potential safety risks but are also in direct violation of school rules. Any student found in possession of such items will face immediate disciplinary action, including suspension and/or possible expulsion.
Please take the time to speak with your child about the importance of following school policies and the consequences of bringing prohibited items to school. By working together, we can maintain a safe and positive learning environment for everyone.
