Dear 7/8th Grade Parents and Guardians,

We would like to inform you about an important upcoming unit in our health curriculum that focuses on the reproductive system for both males and females and some health risks your child may face as they grow into young adulthood. We believe that this knowledge will not only empower our students, but also equip them with essential information about themselves and physical changes they will experience as they navigate through their adolescent years. We understand that these can be sensitive topics and want to partner with you throughout this unit. Here are some of the topics that will be covered during this unit:

Reproductive System:

Male Anatomy:

  • Identifying the parts that make up the male reproductive system on a diagram.

  • Identifying the male reproductive cell known as the sperm cell

Female Anatomy:

  • Identifying the parts that make up the female reproductive system on a diagram.
  • Identifying the female reproductive cell known as the egg cell.

Key Terms:

  • Sperm Cells
  • Egg Cells
  • Fertilization
  • Menstruation
  • Puberty
  • Testosterone
  • Estrogen
  • Sexually Transmitted Infection
  • Sexually Transmitted Diseases

We encourage you to engage in discussions with your child about these topics and provide them with a supportive environment to ask further questions or seek guidance.

These units will run from Friday, Oct. 11th - Tuesday, Oct. 15th. We ensure that the content presented is age-appropriate and in line with our school's values and policies. The topics taught in health can be found on our school website or with this link.

If you have any questions or concerns about these upcoming units or if you wish to discuss any specific aspects of your child's education related to these topics, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We value your partnership in nurturing our students into well-informed, responsible, and emotionally resilient individuals.

Given the sensitive nature of this unit, parents/guardians may have their student opt out, and alternative assignments will be provided. If you wish to opt out of this unit, please call Noelle Green at 701-444-3626, option 2.

Thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your student. Together, we can provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive during their adolescent years.

Sincerely,

Noelle Green, Principal

Mr. Krivoruchka, 7/8th Grade Physical Education/Health Teacher
