Mark was an athlete in Watford City from 1953-1957 Football - Quarterback - perfect seasons in 1953 and 1954, Basketball -Leading scorer last three years. All Conference selection. Averaged 20+ points per game for his sophomore, junior, and senior years. Track -Qualified for state every year in the 100, 220 dash, several relays and the long jump. Team placed 2nd in State. Mark won the 100, 220, Relays, and 2nd in the long jump at the state meet in 1957. Baseball - 1951-1957 Pitcher/Shortstop - Qualified for state 4 years. Pitched all 3 games in the 1956 tournament which captured a 2nd place finish. Mark went to Minot State from 1957 - 1961. President of the Letterman's Club - 2 years, Played Baseball all 4 years. Never lost a game in all four years as a pitcher. Pitched the game that qualified the team for the National tournament in Omaha. All-Conference all four years. Mark was also all conference in Basketball for 3 years. Missed his final season due to a student teaching and work requirements issue. Track in college, he ran on the relay teams practicing exchanges after basketball practice. After College, Mark Pitched for the Williston Oilers (semi- pro) in the Mon-Dak league for two seasons. Mark did not lose a game he pitched in.
