On February 13th Watford City High School Student Council Ambassadors traveled to the State Capital to meet with the Workforce and Labor Development committee. During their meeting they were joined by Kirsten Baesler, SuperIntendent of DPI, Pat Bertagnolli Director of Job Services, and Scott Wisness of the Bakken Area Skills Center. This group testified to the importance of including youth leaders in civic, economic, and work placement opportunities within communities. Each student told their unique journey of leadership opportunities and cooperative work experiences, highlighting the importance of building work ready skills while in high school.
The students then had the opportunity to join representative Jay Olson & senator Dale Patten during the Legislative and Senate sessions that day. Finally they were invited to meet with Governor Kelly Armstrong in his office for a question and answer session. We are so grateful to everyone that made this opportunity possible for our students!
