In Mr. Barnes' English class, students wrote letters to people and organizations making a positive impact in the world. Kay Richardson took this opportunity to write to North Dakota Game and Fish about wildlife conservation, and it led to something truly amazing!
Her letter caught the attention of Mr. Kevin Kading at North Dakota Game and Fish, who was so impressed with Kay's letter that he invited her to attend a student luncheon at their conference in Bismarck! This luncheon is usually reserved for college students, but Kay’s enthusiasm and dedication to conservation earned her a spot.
While there, Kay connected with professionals in the field, and even met a graduate student doing grassland bird conservation in McKenzie County. The student has invited her to join them in the field this summer!
This has been an incredible learning experience for Kay and is a proud moment for Watford City High School and the McKenzie County Public School District #1.
